The August CTPC meeting will be a joint meeting of six user groups, including the CTPC, hosted by the PC Users Group of Connecticut in Trumbull (TPCUG.) Please note the change of date and location from our regular schedule.

This meeting will be held on THURSDAY, August 28th, from 6:30 to 9 PM, at the Trumbull Library Community Room, 33 Quality Street, Trumbull, CT. Please plan to arrive early because high attendance is expected.

Heather Little, a senior sales manager for Pinnacle Corporation will discuss and demonstrate the company's video products. These include products for video capture and editing, watching free HDTV on your PC and the easiest way to archive old video tapes or get video onto your iPod without a PC.

The centerpiece of the presentation is “Pinnacle Studio 12,” a consumer-oriented video editing suite that's easy to use but inherits some powerful features from its parent company, Avid Technology, a leading supplier of video editing software to professional studios. Pinnacle was acquired by Avid in 2005.

Heather will explain how Pinnacle Studio 12 guides users through the process of bringing video into the PC, editing the footage with professional looking transitions, correcting color and shading, adding special effects, music, narration and titles, and then burning the finished video to a DVD that will include scenes and menus.

The “Ultimate” version, which includes advanced features such as picture-in picture and chroma-key that once cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, retails for $129.95! Other versions start at $49.95.

Members from all six clubs will have the opportunity to win one of these Pinnacle products:

The meeting opens with a Q&A session at 6:30 PM, followed by the main presentation at 7 PM and the raffle just before the meeting ends at 9 PM.
