Preview of the Next CTPC Meeting |
March 25, 2008 - 6:30 p.m. |
How do you crop, resize and email a photo with only 3 mouse clicks? What’s a quick and easy way to capture just the amount of information you need from a Web page? How about adding your own comments to a .pdf file and printing a copy without investing a penny on special software?
Those are just three of the cool and useful tricks that can be accomplished with a great little piece of software called “FastStone Capture”, version 5.3. (A newer version can be purchased with even more features, but 5.3 is still available and it’s free for personal use.)
At our March 25th meeting, Walt Graham will demonstrate how FastStone Capture can make daily computer chores easier. “Mike Alcorn brought this utility to my attention a few months ago and I’ve been using it regularly ever since,” he says. Walt will also demo a free software calculator with an editable on-screen paper tape. “It’s a great replacement for the regular Windows calculator.” And if time permits, we’ll learn how to configure the free spyware/adware utility “Spybot Search & Destroy” to prevent unwanted changes from being made to your Windows registry by both known and unknown programs.
Please join us for this back-to-basics program that we hope you will find interesting and helpful. As always, your computer questions are welcome during “Random Access,” and you can sound off with praise or complaints during “Picks & Pans.” The “Pizza SIG” at Uncle Joe’s Restaurant" follows the meeting.
