Preview of the Next CTPC Meeting |
June 28, 2011 - 6:30 p.m. |
[I try to have the newsletter arrive in your mailbox the week prior to the meeting. Because of my travel schedule this issue is being mailed a week earlier than usual. Please note that the meeting is on the fourth and last Tuesday in June, the 28th. [CTPC Editor]
Walt Graham will provide a demo and a briefing on File Management. Walt believes that this area needs some serious improvement in the PC world and is quite critical of Microsoft in their Windows 7 operating system. He will have some file management tips as well as a look at two alternative file managers. This should be interesting particularly to new Windows 7 users. We might even have some controversy.
Our second subject will be covered by Richard Frisch, our Random Access “GURU”, and the author of the of the help desk blog on our web site. Richard keeps up to date on the new developments in the market place and has given us a number of presentations on them. Recently, Steve Jobs has declared “We are living in a post PC era”. Have you considered this? Richard will attempt to answer that question in a short program describing and illustrating Apple’s new world of Lion, OS X, iOS5 and iCloud. Controversy, I hope so. Join us and offer your opinion.
Our meeting begins at 6:30 PM and will last until 8:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Silver Star Diner 210 Connecticut Ave. in Norwalk ( Exit 14 on I-95) We encourage you to remain after the meeting for some socializing and to have Pizza, Salad and the refreshment of your choice at the Silver Star. Costs are normally less than $14/person. They are allowing us to use the facility at “ no charge” and we think they deserve some benefit for their generosity.
